![]() Thank FULL. We are full of thanks for the opportunity to spend a quiet day in with our families this Thanksgiving. It's been a wild ride this year, which has made our workload here on the homestead, at Bee Farmee Headquarters, and inside Farm Hippie just a little bit top heavy. We are thankful that we have a few days to slow the pace, plan for time with our kids and parents, and enjoy good food and downtime. The end of a season is always bittersweet. As we gear up for Thanksgiving downtime, Ash is outside (like, literally, right this second), tilling up and closing down the garden until next spring. Our harvests were bountiful, canning season was the best and busiest yet, and will not only be served at the Thanksgiving table, but will last us until the next garden year--and then some. The goats are free-ranging, munching on all the fallen crunchy leaves they've been dreaming about all summer long. Dewey the Pig is grateful he's a pet-only pig and that the table scraps have been plentiful. The spring baby goats are grown and their thick winter coats already in. All the chicks now look just like their full-grown mates, and if you're familiar with chicken math, you won't be surprised to hear that the flock has doubled in size since March. That's 42 chickens now if you're curious. Their egg production will slow down with the colder weather, our Hen Hippie egg cartons will take a little longer to fill, and that's okay. I slow down in the winter months, too. Charlie and Beans the geese and their feathered duck friends Sunday and Dotty love the cold. They are SO ready. ![]()
Overall, and despite the trend of 2020, it was our favorite year yet on the homestead with so much to look forward to. Because the hubbub of the season is about to settle, one of my favorite times of the year is about to happen. ![]() Now's when the Bee Farmee business (and I truly mean busy-ness) really gets to shine. Life starts to slow, the farmyard is for the most part self-sustaining, outside time isn't nearly as much fun, and suddenly Christmastime is here. Winter months equates to dry skin and more self-care. All the year-round work that goes into Bee Farmee production comes into play ten-fold. I really get excited about Thanksgiving, not just because it's a great time to reflect, slow down, and count all of our blessings, but also because this is when I get to showcase my gratitude toward all of the many blessings. We are FULL of THANKS. What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving? Leave us a comment and let us know below! We love to see the positivity and we might just share it on our Facebook page.
